Louis Wellington Cabot
Louis W. Cabot was Chair Emeritus of the American Çï¿ûÊÓƵ of Arts and Sciences, as well as a member of the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ’s Development, and Budget Committees. He served as Chair of Cabot-Wellington, LLC, and as a Trustee of Conservation International, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Northeastern University, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and the Maine Island Institute. He was a life member of the MIT Corporation and Secretary of the Virginia Wellington Cabot Foundation. With the Cabot Corporation from 1948 to 1991, he served as Treasurer, President, and Chair of the Board. He was Chair of the Brookings Institution and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston; Director of Owens Corning Fiberglass Corporation, RR Donnelley, and New England Telephone and Telegraph; and a member of the Harvard Board of Overseers. He chaired both the President’s Circle of the National Çï¿ûÊÓƵ of Sciences and the Sloan Commission on Government and Higher Education. He was elected a Fellow of the American Çï¿ûÊÓƵ in 1958.
