Stephen C. Yeazell is the David G. Price and Dallas P. Price Distinguished Professor of Law at UCLA's School of Law. His research interests include historical and theoretical analyses of civil litigation, such as jury, civil rights litigation, default, and empirical studies, such as financing of modern litigation, or the vanishing civil trial. Yeazell's books include From Medieval Group Litigation to the Modern Class Action (1987); Civil Procedure (7th ed., 2008), and Contemporary Civil Litigation (2009). He has received UCLA's highest awards for teaching (the University's Distinguished Teaching Award) as well as for research (the UCLA Faculty Research Lectureship); he was also the first recipient of the School of Law's Rutter Award for Excellence in Teaching. He served as Associate Dean of the School of Law (1995-98), as chair of the UCLA Academic Senate (2000-01), and as Interim Dean of the School of Law (2009-10). His research interests include historical and theoretical analyses of civil litigation, such as jury, civil rights litigation, default, and empirical studies, such as financing of modern litigation, or the vanishing civil trial. He was selected to give the 2007 Faculty Research Lecture, UCLA's highest honor for scholarship.
