Warrior is a leading American Indian scholar of Native and Indigenous literature and intellectual history who across five single-authored, co-authored, and co-edited books, has advanced the case for the centrality of the intellect to the creation of a better future for Indigenous peoples and communities. He is both a cosmopolitan intellectual and a scholar fully engaged with Native epistemologies, peoples, and politics. A co-founder and inaugural president of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, he was the driving force behind the creation of this critical professional organization, which has offered hundreds of Indigenous scholars an intellectual home while also expanding the field to include global scholars from Aotearoa/New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Central and South America, Taiwan, and Scandinavia.
