Naomi Oreskes' Merchants of Doubt: How a Handful of Scientists Obscured the Truth on Issues from Tobacco Smoke to Global Warming (co-authored by Erik M. Conway, 2010) and the major documentary film of the same name catapulted her onto the national and international stage. The book won the much-coveted Watson-Davis Prize from the History of Science Society in 2011. She was recently called to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the U.S. Department of Defense to deliver her expertise on global warming. Professor Oreskes is a trained geoscientist and historian.
