Businessman and philanthropist who serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Parkwood LLC, and chairman of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation. He was a co-founder together with his two brothers, Jack and Joseph, of Premier Industrial Corporation where he served as chairman and CEO until 1996 when the company was merged with Farnell Electronics PLC, a British listed company, to become Premier Farnell PLC. Through the Mandel Foundation, he supports (1) Outstanding leadership for the nonprofit world primarily through leadership education programs; (2) Higher education and the Arts; (3) Jewish education and continuity; and (4) Urban neighborhood renewal. Examples of foundation funding include the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University; the Mandel Center for the Humanities at Brandeis University; the Mandel Center for the Advanced Study of the Humanities at Hebrew University; the Mandel Leadership Institute in Jerusalem, and the Armor Court at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Mandel is a life or honorary trustee of Case Western Reserve University; Cleveland Museum of Art; United Way of Cleveland; Jewish Federation of Cleveland; Jewish Community Centers Association; and Jewish Federations of North America.
