An economist with a policy focus, Slaughter's work asks big questions about the impacts of globalization, such as does international trade hurt less-skilled workers and how? What are workers’ attitudes towards trade and immigration? He follows his data-driven research with creative policy recommendations on support for workers and communities, for innovative companies, and for a sound financial system. Sharing his research-based findings in a variety of settings (public service, media, and private consultancies), he serves as an important bridge between research and policy and is shaping business-school education to be equally global and data-driven.
