Laura Helmuth

Laura Helmuth is the Editor in Chief of Scientific American, the oldest continuously published magazine in the United States.

She has been an editor for the Washington Post, National Geographic, Slate, Smithsonian, and Science magazines. She is a former president of the National Association of Science Writers and currently serves on the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s Standing Committee on Advancing Science Communication. This year the National Center for Science Education gave her a “Friend of Darwin” Award.
