Leonard J. Savage University Professor of Statistics and Social Sciences, Emeritus. An advocate of subjective Bayesian methods whose accomplishments span the foundations of statistics, the elicitation of prior information, and diverse areas of application including sampling for census-taking, developmental and social psychology, econometrics, ethics, and the law. Well known for applying statistics to decision making. Served as Editor of the Journal of the American Statistical Association (1983-1985).
