Helen R. Quinn
Helen Quinn is a theoretical particle physicist whose major research interest has been to understand the differences between the laws of physics for matter and those for antimatter, a subject technically known as CP Violation. She has received multiple international awards for her work.
Since her retirement in 2010 her major activity has been in the area of pre-college science education and particularly around issues involved in adoption, implementation and assessment of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). These standards are based on a National Çï¿ûÊÓƵ study which she chaired. The study was published as "A Framework for k-12 Science Education" (National Çï¿ûÊÓƵ Press). NGSS have been adopted by at least 17 states and the district of Columbia.
Helen also served on the initial governing board of Ecuador's National University of Education.
