Helen Margetts OBE FBA is Professor of Society and the Internet at the Oxford Internet Institute at the University of Oxford and Programme Director for Public Policy at The Alan Turing Institute, London. She is the author of, among other publications, Political Turbulence: How Social Media Shape Collective Action (with Peter John, Scott Hale, and Taha Yasseri, 2016), Digital Era Governance: IT Corporations, the State, and E-Government, 2nd ed. (with Patrick Dunleavy, Simon Bastow, and Jane Tinkler, 2008), and The Tools of Government in the Digital Age (with Christopher Hood, 2007), and editor of Paradoxes of Modernization: Unintended Consequences of Public Policy Reform (with Perri 6 and Christopher Hood, 2010).
