President and CEO of the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Dr. Hillman also chairs the independent Military Justice Review Panel, which conducts comprehensive reviews of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the military justice system. Previously, she was the 14th president of Mills College, the first women’s college west of the Rockies, where she navigated the COVID-19 crisis and a transformative merger with Northeastern University; provost and academic dean at the University of California Hastings College of the Law (now UC Law San Francisco); professor of law at Hastings and Rutgers law schools; and instructor of history and space operations officer in the U.S. Air Force. She is a student of law, history, and leadership, and her areas of interest include preventing and responding to violence and advancing equity in both workplaces and educational environments. As President and CEO of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Hillman has expanded museum visitation and educational programs to increase understanding and inspire new generations with the hope, compassion, and courage that shaped so many responses to the 9/11 attacks.
