Professor of Statistics, University of Washington. Research is in the area of statistical genetics. Has developed likelihood methods for the analysis of data observed on related individuals, including members of large and complex pedigrees. Applications range from linkage and segregation analysis for the analysis of complex genetic traits in human populations to estimation of relationship and maintenance of genetic variation in endangered species. Recent methods involve Markov chain Monte Carlo, and other modern latent-variable approaches in stochastic modeling and analysis.
