Crain Soudien

Crain Soudien is a sociologist and Emeritus Professor of Education and African studies at the University of Cape Town. He is a Fellow of the International Çï¿ûÊÓƵ of Education and the African Çï¿ûÊÓƵ of Science, a Senior Fellow of the Network for International Policies and Cooperation in Education and Training (Geneva Graduate Institute), a Member of the Çï¿ûÊÓƵ of Science of South Africa, and a Chen Yidan Visiting Global Fellow at Harvard University. His books include Cape Radicals: Intellectual and Political Thought of the New Era Fellowship, 1930s–1960s (2019), Realising the Dream: Unlearning the Logic of Race in the South African School (2012), The Making of Youth Identity in Contemporary South Africa: Race, Culture and Schooling (2007), and Inclusion and Exclusion in South African and Indian Schools (with Yusuf Sayed, Ramya Subrahmanian, Nazir Carrim, et al., 2007).
