Cheryl Lee

Cheryl Lee (she/her/她) is a Taiwanese American doctoral student of linguistic anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research interests include the linguistic anthropology of education, translanguaging and translingualism, and Asian American heritage language ideologies and practices. Her dissertation work applies ethnographic and semiotic methodologies to examine identity, materiality, and affect in Japanese-Mandarin language classrooms in Taiwan. In 2023–2024, she will be a Taiwan Studies Lectureship Graduate Fellow at National Taiwan Normal University. She has published in Working Papers in Educational Linguistics.
