Bassel Akar

Lebanese Association for Educational Studies

Bassel Akar was Associate Professor of Education at Notre Dame University–Louaize, Lebanon (NDU), and a Research Fellow at Centro de Estudos Africanos, Universidade do Porto. Currently, he is a scholar and member at the Lebanese Association for Educational Studies. His research focuses on education reform through teacher empowerment and learning and teaching for active citizenship in Lebanon and other sites affected by armed conflict and compounded crises. He is the author of Citizenship Education in Conflict-Affected Areas (2019) and a chapter in Citizenship Education and Global Migration: Implications for Theory, Research, and Teaching (ed. James A. Banks, 2017).
