Anne Weaver Hart

Ann Weaver Hart served as the 21st President of the University of Arizona from July 2012 to June 2017. She is now President Emerita and University Professor of Educational Policy Studies & Practice in the UA College of Education. Her key achievements at the UA include the University’s first integrated strategic academic and business plan, a historic agreement with Banner Health that will support the UA’s biosciences research and medical education initiatives, groundbreaking international partnerships with the National Autonomous University of Mexico and Expo 2020 Dubai, and a renewed commitment to higher education from Arizona’s state government.

Previously Dr. Hart served as president of Temple University, president of the University of New Hampshire, and provost and vice president for academic affairs at Claremont Graduate University. At the University of Utah, she served as professor of educational leadership, dean of the Graduate School and special assistant to the president. Hart’s research focuses on leadership succession and development, work redesign and organizational behavior in educational organizations, and academic freedom and freedom of speech in higher education. She holds three degrees from the University of Utah: a bachelor of science and master of arts in history, and a doctorate in educational administration.
