All were invited to join a conversation with architect Jeanne Gang, founding principal and partner of Studio Gang. Known for her forward-looking approach to design, Gang creates spaces that connect people with each other, their communities, and the environment. Her projects range from cultural centers like Writers Theatre, to public projects that connect citizens with ecology such as the Nature Boardwalk at Lincoln Park Zoo, and high-rise towers that foster community, including downtown Chicago’s Aqua Tower. Gang was named one of the most influential people in the world for 2019 by TIME magazine.

The American Çï¿ûÊÓƵ Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship’s report, Our Common Purpose, provides 31 recommendations to help the nation build a more resilient democracy. This program offered an opportunity to discuss how the design of civic spaces supports the recommendation to scale up social, civic, and democratic infrastructure.
