Convening on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship
A cornerstone of the work of the Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship has been listening to the voices of American citizens. From conservative thought leaders in Kentucky to Cambodian refugees in Massachusetts, Americans shared the challenges and opportunities they face as participants in our democracy, as well as their fears and aspirations as they think about our future. On February 7, 2020, the Commission brought together over 70 participants from nearly all of its almost 50 listening sessions, as well as Commission members, civic leaders and philanthropists, to hear from one another and share their work through a series of panels, breakout sessions, and presentations.
The framework for the day was organized around the major themes that emerged from the listening sessions which are central to the work of the Commission.
